This release introduces new roles and permissions features, giving admins more control over who can assign specific roles, along with a simpler way to edit role permissions. It also includes performance improvements for reference record matching, as well as other improvements and bug fixes.
Roles and permissions
-
Admins can choose which roles a user manager may assign or remove, even if the manager lacks those permissions. For example, your IT team can assign the Finance Director role without having budget-approval rights. You can also restrict a user manager to only the roles you list.
-
Every user now has a role. The special “database owner” has been replaced by a role that can be assigned like any other. Add the existing owner account in User management and assign it a new role to replace the current database owner.
-
Role permissions are now edited in a pop-up window instead of the side panel. The side panel shows a short summary of a role’s database-level permissions, with an Edit permissions button to change them. Each resource grant has an edit icon that opens a pop-up with Permitted operations and Record & Field Level Permissions. See the full documentation.
Improvements
-
The performance of reference record matching has been improved.
-
On the install page for an app collection link, each language now appears in its own language (for example “Français”, “العربية” and “Português”).
-
The Kinyarwanda glossary has been updated with corrected terms.
Bug fixes
-
Removing a user from a database no longer breaks records that reference them. Those records still show the user’s name, while the user no longer appears in the user list and cannot access the database.
-
Parent columns can now be set to a constant value when importing into a subform.
